In this video you will learn our Waning Crescent Melt. This is a color melt technique using a 12 point ladder method.
To begin, start by sectioning the hair into 6 “U” shape sections. Our wheels resemble a “Y” around the base of the chair and we are adjusting the canvas so the crest meets the first section. You can do this by adjusting the stem of the canvas or by moving your hydraulic chair.
We will be applying the base color while working up the head. Start with a fine weave in the nape. Apply the base color and feather to zone 2. Then apply the second color from zone 2 to the ends. Increase the pitch of the canvas to meet each section to eliminate negative space. This will give you the perfect backdrop.
We will lower the hydraulic and do the same method; applying base color in zone 1 and feathering to zone 2. We will then apply the secondary color in zone 2 but leave the ends out.
In the 3rd section we will split into 3 sections. We will continue to do the same color method. Here, you will put one foot on your wheels and twist to work each section behind the ears.
Unlock the wheels and pull the canvas back to let the hair fall to its natural distribution. After this you will adjust the height of the canvas for your next section.
Make sure the crest of the canvas meets the section that is being worked. The canvas helps ensure the foils you’re laying will be fully saturated.
Notes
Applying base color while working up the head
Start with a fine weave in nape (first 2 sections)
Increase pitch of canvas to meet the next section to eliminate
negative space lower hydraulic to 3rd section
3rd section split into 3
Elevate pitch when foil is laid
